In the past ten years, the Jiangning Development Zone has been engaged to building a beautiful and comfortable ecological and living environment. In order to build a beautiful and ecologically sound area, on the one hand, we are very strict with the entry of companies, and always say no to polluting project such as chemical plants. On the other hand, we discharge sewage water and rain water separately and built a sewage treatment plant which can dispose 80,000 tons of sewage daily, thus eliminating the source of pollution.
We have also built nearly 20 squares and urban parks with special features, and 36 road-side green belts. The overall green area reaches over 40%.

In June 2001, the Zone won the ISO14001 environmental management certificate, and successfully passed the reexamination in March 2002.

Air quality
According to the monitoring results of the Jiangning atmosphere conducted by the Jiangning District environment monitoring station from 2007, the air quality in Jiangning Development Zone reaches first grade of the national standard. The monitoring data are as follows:
