Niushou Mountain is a famous mountain with a long history. Located in the south suburb of Nanjing and 10 km from Zhonghua Gate, it extends along the hilly areas between the Yangtze River and the Outer Qinhuai River. With Cuiping Mountain to its north and Zutang Mountain to its south, the mountain takes a unique look, like the head of an ox with two horns. That is why it is called Niushou (meaning the head of an ox). Niushou Mountain is endowed with the blessingof nature and has very beautiful natural scenery. Every spring in March, trees and bamboos flourish and peach flowers compete for beauty. At dusk, twilight hides in the mist, and rosy clouds rise slowly. ?¡ãhe mist on Niushou?¡Àis so attractive that people could get drunk in its beauty. The ancient tradition of visiting Niushou in spring and Qixia Temple in autumn is still unchanged.

The tomb of Zhenghe
The tomb of Zhenghe lies in the south of Niushou Mountain. It is 300 meters long from south to north, 60 meters wide from east to west, and about 8 meters tall. Built in Islamic style, the whole tomb is shaped like the Chinese Character. In the front there are four sets of steps. Each set has 7 steps. That is 28 in total. Metaphorically, it refers to the fact that Zhenghe spent 28 years to travel abroad seven times to over 40 countries and regions.

Two mausoleums of South Tang
The two mausoleums of South Tangis located at the foot of southeast part of Zutang Mountain in the southern suburb of Nanjing City. They are the tombs of Li Bian, the first emperor of South Tang during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, and one of his successors, Li Jing. In 1950 to 1951, Nanjing Museum excavated the mausoleums, and they were also among the third group of national key cultural heritage protection sites announced in 1988.

The Tower in Hongjue Temple is on the Southwest slope of the east peak of Niushou Mountain, and is 180.5 meters above sea level.

The old fort built by Yue Fei against Jing invasion
The old fort is on the ridges of Niushou Mountain and Hanfu Mountain in the southern suburb of Nanjing. In April 1130 during the South Song Dynasty, ?¡ãWu Shu (Note: a general of Jing) headed towards Jiankang(Note: the ancient name of Nanjing). Yue Fei built the fort on Niushou Mountain to wait to prevent him?¡À The so-called ?¡ãold fort?¡Àis the remains of the fight between Yue Fei and his enemy then. Later in history, during the Taiping rebellion, the fort was again used to fight the Qing army.
